I bought my ‘71 Super Bee 440 six-pack 4-speed super trac pac, on September 1st 1984. About a year earlier, I had seen the Bee sitting at a used car lot in Freeport, Illinois. During that time my sister owned a ‘71 RT 340 slap stick automatic Challenger, orange with black stripes. I told her about the Super Bee and that I wanted to see what the car lot would do on a trade. She said ok and off I went in to town to hopefully acquire the ‘71 440 Six-pack 4 speed Super Bee, that was red with black stripes.
Well when I arrived at the car lot the car was gone. I rushed inside and asked the salesman where the Bee was .The salesman told me "your about an hour to late, I just sold that car". Boy was I mad I didn’t think Id ever see it again. I jumped in the Challenger and headed for home. As I was heading south outside of town, I decided to swing by my best friend Scott's house. His brother had a Torino (Starskey and Hutch car) and his dad just got Scott a ‘71 Cobra Torino. When I turned into his driveway, I could not believe my eyes; They’re sat the ‘71 Super Bee in his dad’s garage. I got out of my sister’s Challenger, they were all standing near the Bee with big smiles on their faces. I walked up and said why did you buy the Super Bee Roger, I thought you were a Ford nut? Roger says well I am but I just had to have this one, it was different.
I told Roger if you ever want to sell it please let me know first. He said ok, a year later I got the call, and the Bee was mine.
